What they're saying:  "David's remarkable talent as a photographer is matched by his ability to communicate as a teacher, and his unbridled enthusiasm to share information."

John Ennis, Yardley, PA

Would you rather create amazing photographs instead of take the occasional good snap-shot?

David's vast experience behind the lens, combined with his desire to share his passion, has led him down an obvious path of teaching his craft to others.

His services range from group "photo tours" on the other side of the world, to private instruction closer to home.  In any case, David's students learn not only the technical operation of their camera gear, but they also develop their creative vision and "eye" for composition.

Level of instruction ranges from children / beginners to advanced amateurs to aspiring professionals.  Coursework is typically "in the field", although classroom instruction can also be an integral part of the experience and can range from guidance on landscape photography to location portraiture techniques.

David can also assist with portfolio reviews, professional marketing materials and digital workflow (e.g., Adobe PhotoShop software).

For a listing of David's upcoming workshops, please visit the What's On - Photo Workshops section of this website.

Photo Tour details can be found on the What's On - Photo Tours page.

GROUP TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY "TOURS"

David is available as a freelance photography instructor for travel tour companies, creative workshops and private groups throughout the world.  Workshops can range from  long weekends to multi-week, intensive programs abroad.  Please contact David should you have a small group and would like to integrate a photography emphasis to your vacation / holiday plans.

Locally, David's "Photo Tours" are extremely popular, where he guides small groups around exciting locales like New York City and Philadelphia, as well as other historic towns and areas of natural beauty along the Delaware Valley.  It is important to note that David is not a mere "tourist guide" for these events, and provides continuous hands-on instruction and guidance over the course of the day.  Details of his scheduled itineraries can be found on the What's On:  Photo Tours section of this website.

LOCAL WORKSHOPS FOR GROUPS

For those not willing or able to travel outside of the local area, David can compose an equally-informative program in the Tri-State Area.  Please contact him if you are interested in a customized workshop for your art club, organization or in the convenience of your home or office.

David frequently conducts a line of classroom-based workshops in the local area, all of which are geared toward the photo enthusiast, whether entirely new to the craft, or taking on the challenge of their first digital SLR camera:

Introduction to Digital Photography:  Learn the essentials of digital photography, as well as general photographic composition.  This is ideal for someone new to photography or has revived their interest in a digital world.

Intermediate Digital Photography:  Learn how to progress from "automatic" operation of your camera to "semi--automatic" or "manual" operation.  Topics include "depth-of-field", metering, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc.

Photographic Composition:  Includes "elements of design" theory, as well as over 20 practical compositional techniques to help turn your "good" photos into "great" ones.  Suitable for all photographers of any skill level.

Vacation & Travel Photography:  Create better photos while on vacation -- ones that your friends, family and co-workers will envy!  Learn the tricks-of-the-trade used by many top professional travel photographers.

Introduction to Digital Workflow & Digital Photo Editing: "I've taken a bunch of digital photos, now what do I do with them?"  Covers the basics of organizing your digital photo files and making basic color-correction to them using photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop Elements).

Intermediate Digital Photo Editing - The Essential Elements (Parts I & II): Learn how to get the most out of your photo editing software, using the "manual" (i.e., "Full Edit") adjustment controls of Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Marketing for the Emerging Artist: Designed with the "serious" hobbyist in mind (photographers or other visual artists) who aspires to create an income from their efforts.  Topics include:  development of publicity materials, exhibiting your work, "guerrilla" marketing techniques, and using the internet to help with your promotion.

A schedule of David's current offerings, along with more-detailed descriptions of the courses, can be found on the What's On:  Photo Workshops section of this website.

SPECIAL WORKSHOPS FOR KIDS

A firm believer that our children are our future, David sees the development of a child's "creative potential" as essential to making this world a better place.  Enabling and maximizing their imaginations through artistic expression and creative and cultural exploration, David's workshops cover more than fundamental photography skills.  He provides inspiration for children to see the world around them and capture their vision with a camera.  These workshops are ideal for summer "art" camps and school photography clubs.

ONE-ON-ONE PRIVATE INSTRUCTION

Are you serious about developing your photography skills but prefer to do so in a more personal environment?

David can provide flexible, one-on-one private instruction that is designed to address your specific objectives and help you to develop your creative skills at your own pace.  Sessions are available from half-day to multi-day programs.  Please contact David to discuss your requirements and to design your customized workshop.
